More than a few of the conversations I’ve had with friends lately have been about the challenges of making family dinner a reality now that school — and all the craziness that comes with it — is in full swing. Frustrated parents try to do meal planning only to have their plans foiled by late-night games, schedule changes, and study groups. Or they buy meal kits, which can be great but get expensive (not to mention guilt inducing thanks to all that packaging that gets thrown in the trash). Often they just give up on making dinner and order pizza.
I like to suggest soup as a great option. Soup is tasty and nourishing and generally healthy. Eating soup feels cozy and warming on a chilly autumn night. Plus a pot of soup can hang out simmering on the stove until family members are home and ready to eat it, making it “souper” (sorry) convenient. “That does sound great,” a friend will reply. “But who’s going to make the soup? If I don’t have time to make taco salad, I certainly don’t have time to make homemade soup!” I could argue that’s not exactly true, but instead I’ve decided to make soup for you.
Starting the week of Sept. 29, I will be selling homemade soup!
- Perfect for family dinner on a busy weeknight, my homemade soups make a delicious and easy meal when served with a simple green salad – or grilled cheese sandwiches of course! They are also great in a thermos for lunch.
- All soups are homemade (by me) from healthy, fresh, real food ingredients, and are mostly organic. No added sugar, eggs, MSG, gluten, or anything nasty and unpronounceable.
- They freeze well and come with reheating instructions and serving suggestions.
- I am happy to deliver the soup (minimum 3 quarts) within the Denver metro area or will leave it in a cooler on my front porch for you to come pick it up if you’re in the neighborhood (northeast part of Bonnie Brae, just south of Cherry Creek). No minimum order for pickups.
- 32-oz. (1 quart) containers serve 2-4 people, depending on appetites and accompaniments.
- To order: Simply email me which soup(s) and quantity you would like (see options below) (moc.suoiciledefillaernull@niveb). Soups will be available to pick up and/or be delivered the following Wednesday.
- For payment, I prefer Venmo (@bevinwallace); I also take checks.
Specialty Soups (Selection will change over the months, and I’ll be adding more seasonal varieties and vegan options.)
